Critiquing Layout and Collages 29/03

Here are my Collage and text concepts with grids:
  •  Here you can see I have not a lot of text and the line splitting across the page is not working.
  • The collage is too big, and there is no focus point what so ever
  • The font size might be too big in the heading
  • There is too much text under the heading
  • The Symbols on the bottom are too detailed. (each picnic table had a icon relating to its place)
  • The marine life collage isn't showing enough 'layers'
  • Collages are too big
  • The colour drop behind the text is basic and boring

Here is the next step I took after my critique with developing my collages and playing around with text concepts.

  • The symbols are too spread apart
  • Not enough text still

Critiquing Sports and Recreation 29/03

This is my first sports and recreation page with grids showing. As you can tell here it is very rough, and the layout is not working very well.

This layout was after playing around and braking up the text, and making the spread look balance.

This was a other critique with making the right spread more balanced, and the circles to fill up the negative space.

Critiquing Front Cover 29/03

This is my first front cover. I personally am not happy with it and need to change a lot. This will start with removing the saturated yellow in the background, scaling the image smaller and add 'DISCOVER WELLINGTON'

This is my second attempt. I am still not 100% happy with it. I think the font is too large and the collage is not working what so ever.

This is my 3rd attempt. This time playing around with scale and changed the images to specific textures at each destination to clearly decipher each destination.
  • The overlapping in type and image is not working and needs to be scaled down. I think this is because of the organic shapes clashing with the sharp lines.

Critiquing Map Layout 29/03

This is my first Map.
  • It is way too bold with colour as the green is over powering

This is working nice but what could i do to change this and improve it?
Also I don't need the 'Wellington' because it is already stated on my cover this is Wellington based, so I can remove that.

This isn't working so well now. So I think ill go back to concept 2

Mocking up my brochure using grids 19/03

Ideating and Brainstorming 19/03

Collages 19/03

After collecting information, understanding my locations, collecting images and creating my 3 Matrix's for my 3 destinations, I was then ready to develop some collages and make some combinations and critique my work. I have done this by referring back to my Images I took at each location, getting feedback from class mates/Lectures and revising each location. Looking at Artist Models have also influenced my work and they style I am going for in my brochure.

Animal interaction in Wellington 5/05

I have chosen wild life parks/sanctuaries to develop further for my brochure. I will be visiting Wellington Zoo, Zelandia, and Island Bay Marine Education Centre

I think all 3 of these destinations bring a different scene of animals for families in Wellington and visitors.  Such as Exotic Animals, native birds, and marine life.

Developing ideas 5/03

In week one we looked through 3 recreational destinations or activities under the 3 subject matters of:

  • Food and Entertainment
  • Arts and Culture
  • Sport + Recreation
After naming places in Wellington which go under the appropriate category above, I selected what I think are the 6 most interesting subject matters in wellington and made Matrix's for each subject.
